Basically: It was pretty bad. Not a fan of this movie at all, just a huge fan of the three stars.

Story: Three guys, each have a uniquely awful boss. They hatch a plan to solve their problem. Hilarity ensues?

Actors: Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis

Win: There were a couple pretty funny jokes, the three individual stars are hilarious. (It just doesn't show in this movie)

Fail: Just not really a funny movie, really low brow, but to be blunt, if you saw this movie you probably didn't expect a whole lot.

Verdict: Fail.

Confused: Jamie Foxx...was actually kind of funny

Basically: It was far better than I expected. Quite good, shot interestingly, nice action, intriguing story.

Story: Guy takes drug. It makes him awesome at everything. Take a guess if he wants more.

Actors: Bradley Cooper, Robert DeNiro

Win: The fight scenes are done very well, they are above average for todays average action flick. The story kept me on the edge of my seat. They used this cool camera trick zoom effect thing that, when they used it, really helped propel the movie. I laughed a good amount.

Fail: At points I wasn't completely sure why the main character was doing something, not everything was completely clear to me. The movie seemed to dwell on some aspects too long, and skip over others, leaving the viewer out of the loop.

Verdict: WIN

Confused: The ending...what, was, that?

Battle: Los Angeles

Basically: While the action was cool at times, the story was so flat and cheesy that my mind was elsewhere.

Story: A marine decides to retire, unfortunately, the day he hands in his retirement papers, aliens invade. He is called to duty. How inconvenient.

Actors: Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Ne-Yo, Bridget Moynahan

Win: Not much. Some cool action scenes, also I think there was one intense moment. I think.

Fail: Majority of the movie. Even the aliens weren't that cool. Every moment had some super cheesy action conversation. It was disgustingly cliché. There were sections of the movie, that if showed on there own, viewers would think they were watching a spoof of an action movie.

Verdict: Fail!

Confused: Ne-Yo was in it...?

The Fighter

Basically: You will get goosebumps, multiple times, especially if you see in theaters. Amazing.

Story: Based on a true story, Mickey Ward is a rising boxer from Lowell, MA. His ex-boxer, crack addict brother is his trainer. Can Mickey pull his brother and family out of despair, with his boxing skill? A story of family, fighting, redemption and triumph.

Actors: Mark Whalberg, Christian Bale, Amy Adams

Win: Everything about this was a win. Christian Bale steals the show, but all the actors do a fantastic job. The way the fights were shot make you feel like you were really watching fight night on HBO. You will connect with the characters. Must see. Will win Oscars.

Fail: Not, really, anything. But if I have to say something, it is slightly formulaic. (But so are 95% of movies today)

Verdict: WIN!

Confused: Did anyone else notice that Conan O'Brien's sister was playing one of Mickey's sisters? Im not kidding, look it up. (She looks exactly like Conan)

Black Swan

Basically: Messes with your mind, very dark, intense, scary-ish. Very good.

Story: The NYC ballet company is putting on Swan Lake, and fragile, shy Nina Sayers gets the part of the Black and the White swan. She is perfect for the White swan, but through her quest to perfect the part of the Black swan...she changes.

Actors: Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis

Win: Great directing by Darren Aronofsky. Amazing acting by everyone. You are always on the edge of your seat. This is the definition of a Psychological Thriller. Everything worked together, the sound, the music, the dancing, majority of this movie was flawless. If you like being gripped by movies, watch this. It's intense.

Fail: Probably scarier than you're expecting when you walk in the theatre. Not many moments for the audience to take a breath (possibly a good thing)

Verdict: Win!

Confused: Possibly too much mind boggling?

Tron: Legacy

Basically: It was pretty good, not amazing.

Story: Sam Flynn's father was sucked into a video game world, Sam goes in to the world to save his father. Everything is made of glow sticks.

Actors: Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde, Michael Sheen

Win: Really cool acrobatics and fight scenes, and light bike scenes. Really cool special effects, costume design, set design, everything has that cool Tron look. Amazing soundtrack by Daft Punk. Main actor does a good job.

Fail: Too many aspects of the story were unexplained. Many potentially cool moments were ruined by super cheesy lines. Story kind of lacked in general.

Verdict: Meh.

Confused: Is it just me, or is it kind of creepy that a 60 year old Jeff Bridges is living alone with 20 year old girl?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 1

Very good. First off, let me say that I disliked the last two Harry Potter movies with a passion. I loved the first four. (Third was pretty good). But I was really happy when I saw this one, because I was expecting another just like the last two, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Now another thing I have to say before I continue with this review is that I did go to the midnight showing, so the whole atmosphere, with the crazy fans dressed up shouting out trivia and stuff. That probably made me like it a little better. At one point before the movie, a girl dressed in a short golden glittery dress, with wings tied to her back got up and started running around the theater. Her friends pointed to her and yelled "There's the Golden Snitch!" a couple seconds later, a random guy dressed as Harry Potter in the back row got up and started chasing her, wand in hand. This went on for minutes, the whole theater cheering them on. It was the greatest thing ever.

Anyway on to my review. One thing that I noticed, that I really liked, was the whole time, you kind of had this spooky tension. Like Voldemort was watching over the characters. It was very nicely done, and it added a layer of creepiness to the whole movie. In a good way.

So I read all the books, loved them. This movie stays very true to the books, and I give it big props for that. What really surprised me, was not only did the movie "stay true" to the books, I specifically remember thinking: "Wow, this is exactly how I pictured it" which is a cool experience. Like you are seeing it for a second time.

This movie has Sadness in it, excitement, and there was one scene that was VERY nicely done. Highlight the following to see what I'm talking about, (Don't if you haven't seen HP7 yet): The scene where the old lady turns into Nagini, the snake, and you slowly start realizing what's going on, Hermione sees the flies, and Harry sees what looks like his old room. Amazingly well done.

Here is what I didn't like about the movie, and before I say them, know that the good parts of this movie strongly outweigh the bad.

Firstly, if you compare the first two movies, to this one or the last couple, you will notice something. There is a certain "Old Timey" feel, that is completely lost in the more recent movies. I really liked that charm, seeing the castles, seeing all the old fashioned wizardry shenanigans and what not. In the more recent movies, especially this one, it is so modern. I guess you could argue that this is because they interact more with the muggle world in the more recent books. Or you could argue that the Old timey feel comes with Hogwarts, which is not as much part of the story anymore. But still, now you see Hermione ordering a Cappuccino (no joke, this actually happens) and you see BMW's and instead of wearing robes they wear what looks like could be Abercrombie and Fitch or something. This bugs me.

Also, there were quite a few unintentional laughable moments. Most of them were because of the awkward love triangle of Ron, Harry, Hermione. Some weird stuff happens, and whether it was necessary in the movie is questionable.

Finally, what really got me was this: PART ONE. When the Harry Potter title starts flying in, I always get so excited, and the little Part One on the side just kind of took me out of the experience. Plus the way they ended it was very part one.

OK, so I realize that I mainly said bad things about this Harry Potter movie, but it was very, very, very good, and if you have even the slightest interest in Harry Potter I HIGHLY suggest you go see it. HIGHLY. It was funny, action packed, cute, smart, everything you could want from a Harry Potter movie and more. Oh and when you see it you will understand that had they not made this a Two Part'er, well lets just say you'll be glad they did.

The Kid's Are Alright

Great! I loved this movie. Some words come to mind when I think about this movie: Thought-Provoking, Intense, Emotional, Hilarious, Realistic, Thought-Provintentionaristic. I made the last one up.

The actors are so great, and believable. It's hard to explain but there was always this sense of realism, i'm not sure if it was the actors or the script or the story or more likely a mix of all of them. YOU MUST GO WATCH THIS MOVIE!

I haven't seen such an intriguing movie in a while. It deals with very current issues, and the issues were dealt with tastefully. The movie was artistic. The movie was funny, even with all the drama going on they manage to insert hilariousness. You will be thinking the whole movie, and afterwards. Mark Ruffalo is amazing. Julianne Moore is great. The kids were "Alright." Just kidding, I had to say that but the actors the played the kids were amazing. Especially Mia Wasikowska, who (see Alice in Wonderland review) was the only thing I liked about the recent Alice in Wonderland movie.

Anyway I can't rave about this movie enough. Amazing. Fantastic.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

This movie was really fun to watch, Yes it is another "Michael Cera" movie meaning he plays basically the same character (Awkward Kid) with the same goals (Get Girl), but he pulls it off well. So I did love this movie, but whether or not this was intentional, it seems like there was a very target audience intended for this movie.

I really loved the story, it didn't go by too fast or too slow, the characters are great, plus the very fun style with the whole video game theme was really cool. What made the movie great was all these factors tying together. If you think you might like this, give it a try, because, just, do. This review would have been more in depth but I waited way too long after watching it to write this. Bye. Oh and I love the actors in this movie, not even counting Michael Cera they are all really great and even Jason Schwartzman at the end. There are some things I didn't like about this movie, I just don't remember them.

So this review sucked. But Scott Pilgrim did not. Go watch it!

Life As We Know It

Sucked. So Predictable. Cookie cutter chick flick.

I Like Katherine Heigl a lot, Josh Duhamel not as much, but this movie was really awful. It's one of those movies where you know exactly what's going to happen as it happens. I really don;t need to say what was bad about it, because I could just say everything. But I'll say anyway.

In a movie this bad, usually the actors chemistry saves it from being completley awful. This is not the case with this movie. Think about it like this, in some tv shows or movies, the actors look like they are having fun, and they make you think, oh it would be cool to hang out with that group of friends, or it would be fun to third wheel a date with that couple. I actually would have been happier had the two main characters never met. That bad. Im just gonna end it there.

The Town

I Loved It! So good! Best movie I've seen in theaters in WAY too long. Oh and go see it if it's still out!

Ben Affleck was so great, Jeremy Renner was even better, and really all the acting (with one exception which i'll talk about later) was great. Boston/Charlestown was shot really nicely, it could have been better but I was satisfied. The story was solid, the action was great, and I really liked the characters. Just a really good movie. It was even funny at some parts.

The only gripe I have was Blake Lively, I haven't seen her in anything else, but she was sub par in this. her acting wasn't awful, but it sort of took me out of the experience. But thats it, I really loved it.

Sorry this is so short I just have nothing to say. Go see it.

The Social Network

WARNING: I am the only person (I know of) that didn't like this movie.

But yeah I really didn't like it. I can totally see the appeal, it's well written, the characters are interesting, and I will give it this: It's pretty funny. But there a lot of things I didn't like about it, and in the end it just failed to entertain/intrigue me like I expected it to.

Harvard is a really cool place, and it absolutely wasn't done justice in this movie. I am aware that they weren't allowed to shoot on campus, so it was a challenge for them to capture the Harvard feel, but its such a nice campus, with so many interesting areas, I think they could've done that better. I was really looking forward to see how they shot all the campus areas, and i just didn't it. And maybe I'm only saying this because I've spent so much time on the Harvard campus, but still.

That being said, the movie really dragged on for me, I kept waiting for it to get more intense, but it never really did, the pace was the same throughout most of the movie. Basically, it is about a socially akward kid creating the biggest social interface on the planet. It's pretty amazing if you think about it, and the movie didn't really capture that amazing feel.

I do find it really cool that the two twins in the movie were played by the same actor, that's really cool to me, a feat in editing and shooting, and I absolutely give them props for that, because I had no idea. Anyway, I am really ragging on this movie, and it wasn't awful, but it absolutely didn't live up to the hype. So. Yeah. The trailer was sick, and made me really want to see it. So I saw it and didn't like it. The end.

SALT

I had high hopes for this movie, and long story short: I was let down. I love Angelina Jolie, and she did really well in this movie, but besides her there really wasn't much to it. In the first 5 minutes of the movie I correctly predicted the ending of a movie, which you should never be able to do. In my opinion.

There were too many unnecessary plot points, and not enough core story. Also the characters were barely developed, beyond their backstories. Oh and there was no closure, a lot of movies have me feeling like it hasn't really ended, this was one of them. However the action scenes were great, and sometimes thats all a movie takes to entertain.

Unfortunately I think SALT was going for more, but failed to achieve what it was going for. Heres the premise of the story: She is set up. But it gets way more complicated, which I usually love, but not here. It just wasn't pulled of well. Don't see it. Unless you are in love with Angelina (like me)

The Other Guys

Damnit! That's what I thought when I walked out of the theater. Let down. Will Ferrel is one of the funniest human beings on planet earth. This movie did not show that off. There were a couple times where he was his hilarious self, but for the most part, it just didn't live up to his "Step Brothers, Taladega Nights" movies. I mean, those movies you are laughing so hard its sometimes difficult to breath. I had no difficulty breathing during The Other Guys. Im really sorry to say but just don't see it. Unless you've really wanted to see it, or you have a bunch of friends over and there is nothing else, this movie is totally not worth it. Sorry.

V for Vendetta

I have been hearing people talk about this movie for a really long time and also been seeing people reading the graphic novel, and I am really glad I finally saw it. Obviously Nicole Kidman was amazing, I mean crazy, to understand what I mean you really need to see this one. The thing about it is its completely action packed, awesome fight scenes are all over the place, but it also has a very philosophical side to it. This blend of components allows it to be really entertaining, the ending is satisfying, and it's even funny at some parts. The only thing I didn't like, (and this is just my opinion it's not a mistake or anything) I didn't like the intense imagery used at some parts of the movie, I think they were trying to make references to past events and they could have made it more subtle. basically they should have trusted that the audience would have figured it out, they didn't need to shove the idea in our faces. You'll get what I mean when you see it.

I'm going to keep the synopsis short because I don't like to give away too much, but basically it takes place in London, in the future, and the government isn't in good shape. And one guy doesn't like that. But it gets deeper you learn backstory the characters etc.

Great movie, really entertaining, also has a good message and makes you think. A lot. About society and stuff. Very good. If you need something to see, see this.

Get Him To The Greek

Loved it! This movie was great, in a nutshell, it was extremely funny bringing that Apatow feel that everyone loves, but was also deep and emotional without being corny (basically it didn't take itself too seriously, in a good way)

Jonah Hill, who became famous with Super Bad, is back and he plays a very similar character. Watching his character mix with Russel Brands character was so entertaining. You may know Russel Brand from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, (which this movie is a tie in with, because it has some of the same characters) and he hosted the MTV movie awards a couple years ago. Anyway, They were both hilarious, there are so many quotable lines in the movie, that you will be repeating with your friends for a long time.

And as I mentioned earlier, even though the tone during the movie was light hearted and hilarious the whole movie, it is able to captivate you enough to buy into and care about the drama side of the movie as well. The only things that me and my friend agreed about that we didn't like was there was one scene that was a little unnecessary. But besides that, you will love this movie almost no matter who you are. Maybe some won't love it, but in my opinion there really is something in it for everyone. Maybe you'll even like the scene we didn't. Anyway see it, preferably with some pals, it makes for a great night/afternoon/morning? Yea.

The Losers

Pretty Good. Nothing better than Pretty Good.

It was fun to watch, it was "entertaining" but it really didn't do much more than the average movie.

One of the strongest points of this movie was the comic banter between the characters, it was actually pretty funny. Just the little situations between the characters definitely had me laughing out loud. The story was cookie cutter, the plot wasn't horrible, this movie was overall just kind of blasé. If you want to see something with some friends, with pretty good action and laughs, then watch this, but you won't really get any story layer. Final Verdict: Surprisingly funny, good action, lame everything else.

Alice in Wonderland

This movie is very trippy. It is very Tim Burton. Very dark, whimsical, fantastical, whatever you want to call it. Oh an also it was boring. Yea, I kind of feel like Tim burton thinks that he has found the perfect formula for every movie, and so he doesn't need to try anymore. I mean this movie was well made, and its cool to see the old story brought to life with new technology, but this movie just bored me. The only scene that I thoroughly enjoyed was on seen at the very end. I shouldn't have to wait that long to get enjoyment out of a movie.

There were one or two moments that were interesting, or that made me chuckle, but when I compare that to how much I liked some other movies similar to this one, I really see no reason for you to watch this unless it was some sort of childhood favorite, or you love this type of movie. It bored me and just wasn't worth it. Watch something else.

She's Out Of My League

This movie definitely exceeded my expectations. I heard mixed reviews, and to be honest it looked kind of stupid. I can usually identify movies like that, stupid, quickly made, overly vulgar and jokes aren't funny. This movie maybe had a few of those characteristics, but it was definitely a good watch.

Th plot is basically entirely in the title, which is usually a bad sign, a lowlife airport security guy starts dating one of the best looking girls to ever live, and then the shenanigans begin. Just a side note, Jay Baruchel, the main character in this movie (the guy in the picture) makes the movie much better, hes is really good at being the loser. So if you have seen him in things like Knocked Up, Tropic Thunder or Fanboys, you will like him in this.

The final verdict is, yes, there are some stupid jokes, but I laughed out loud more than I have since The Hangover. If that is what you are looking for, check this movie out. If you are having a bunch of friend over and want a funny laugh out loud movie that you can all quote later on, this is a good one. If your by yourself, maybe go for something more serious.

Gamer

Synopsis: In the somewhat near future, technology allows a new Gaming platform. Humans controlling other humans. Kable, an inmate being controlled by a 17 is one deathmatch away from being released.

Wow. This movie was incredible. Incredibly good? Not so much. It was very interestingm and is the type of movie that has you thinking about it for a while. This movie definitley wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. And also, i think it has a very target audience, people who have some sort of participation in the tech worlld. Nowadays everyone is somewhat invested in computers, but im talking about people who have an extended interest in the technology world. Myself for example. I spend a lot of time online, and so this movie was a commentary on something very relevant to me. There is also side dialogue that tries to broaden the scope, like talking about how this movies scenario could effect common day problems like health care and such, but tech was the main focus.

That being said. For those that this movie interests, this was a pretty good movie. The action was intense, there was never really a lull in the adrenaline. The whole commentary on the online world, and its effects on the real world were carried out extremely well. There were moments when I was freaking out at the weirdness of this movie, and I can see this not being popular with a lot of people. Overall, I, as in me, really liked this movie. I am going to be thinking about it for a while. Ludacris was great, I think he's an amazingly underated actor. John C Riley of Dexter was great, kind of weird in that his accent kept changing, but he was good. I really like Gerard Butler, and I think he did Kable justice in this movie.

However, there were very many things I didn't like abou tthis movie. There were way to many plot holes and failures in logic. With a movie like this, its usually ok, but there were way too many. There were way too many, what if, moments. Moments like, a car flipping into a windo because a bullet flew into the engine, and things like that get annoying after a while. There were also a lot of storylines that were started, and not finished. Also many of the emotional bond between the characters seemed not very strong, kind of artificial. A lot of the dialogue was really cheesy and un-naturally written. The cuts were generic and unartistic. Also, things would happen, and the audience would have no idea why it hppened. Like why did he just kill that guy, or why was he able to do that? The one thing that really annoyed me about this movie, was how much went unexplained. They should have given more scientific background, and more details on the game. Is it a first person shooter, or third person, how does paying work, what are the rules, more details like this would have made the whole idea really believable and made the movie more enjoyable in general.

So if you are really into techie gadgety stuff and online games, and you are invested in the tech industry, you would probably thouroughly enjoy this movie. Otherwise, I think I have to advise you to stay away.

This movie was just great. It was fantastic. It was a comedy that can NOT be summed up in one sentence. I really loved all the characters, constantly was laughing out loud, and constantly being caught off guard. maybe twice in the movie I thought it was predictable, but this was definitley not a predictable movie. It was really just a great wath, and im surprissed it didn't do better in theaters, because this was a genuinley funny movie.

I have a newfound respect for Jason Bateman. He was hilarious, his comedic timing was so great, and he delivered the dialogue so freshly. This was just such a fresh movie, something new to the comedy scene. Im proud of Ben Affleck for stepping it up too. Oh and Kristen Wiig. I already love her in everything shes in, shes basically never not funny, whether shes burning things on SNL or playing the wife with demensia, shes always hilariouis. What was weird about her in this movie is that she was a normal person, yet she pulled it off amazingly. Definitley watch this movie, its a great refresher from the stupid and not serrious comedies that are floating around these days.

The Invention of Lying

This movie was, decent, but nothing special. It wasn't anything more than one of those gimmecky movies, where you can sum it up in one sentence. I think in general a movie should take more than one sentence to give a full synopsis. In this case: Humans have not yet developed the ability to lie, one man makes this discovery and takes an advantage of his newfound ability. Lying.

Yeah, its a funny idea, and it was executed really well, but a movie like this can only be so good. I love Ricky Gervais, and have an amazing amount of respect for him seeing as he created the inspiration for one of my all time favorite shows. Even Jennifer Garner who I generally dont like, I liked in this. And of course some other favorites helped me enjoy this movie, like Tina Fey and Jonah Hill. Even Louis C.K. a hilarious stand up comedian whose been appearing in tv and movies more often. My suggestion is, if you have some friends over and are hanging out, looking to have a good laugh, maybe try this movie out. However, if you are looking on Demand, there are definitley better movies to watch.

Golden Globes Recap - 2010 Winners

Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture - Mo'Nique/Precious: Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga were good, but from what I've heard, Mo'Nique was better, so ill have to agree with this one. Her acceptance speech was great too.
Best Actress in a Television Series Comedy - Toni Collette/U.S. of Tara: I disagree, I think Lea Michele from Glee deserved this one.
Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series - John Lithgow/Dexter: I've heard this show is amazing, but I would have liked to see Michael Emerson from Lost win this one. That show is amazing, and much its success his due to his acting skill. Also, Neil Patrick Harris is funny, but not Globe Worthy.
Best Animated Feature Film - UP: No surprise here, everyone loved it. For some reason I didn't think it was that great. The Fantasic Mr. Fox would have been my pick. But then again, I instantly love anything Wes Anderson creates.
Best Actor in a Television Series Drama - Michael C Hall/Dexter: I agree with this one, I dont watch the show, but the other nominees weren't spectacular. Im surprised, however, that it didn't go to John Hamm of Mad Men.
Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy - Meryl Streep/Juilie and Julia: I agree with this one, she easily beat out Sandra Bullock in The Proposal, and Julia Roberts for Duplicity. Meryl actually nominated twice for two different movies, in this category (Its Complicated).
Best Screenplay Motion Picture - Up In The Air: This ones difficult for me. Movies wise, I thouht District 9 and Inglorius Basterd were both better. But, I beleive screenplay means which has the best script, or which is written best, and in that case Up In The Air was written brilliantly, so that would make sense.
Best Actor in a Television Series Comedy - Alec Baldwin/30 Rock: Of course, being the diehard Office fan that I am, I am going to say that Steve Carell should have won this one. But even if I wasn't, I just think he is much funnier in The Office and outside it. Michael Morrison from Glee was also great, but not quite great enough.
Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture - Christoph Waltz: I could not agree more with him winning this award, if you haven't seen his preformance in Inglorius Basterds, you are missing out, he is amazing. I would have thrown a fit had anyone else won this one.
Best Director Motion Picture - James Cameron/Avatar: Even though I didn't love Avatar as much as the general public, im going to agree with this one. I thought the directing was fantastic, and if you throw in the fact that he had to deal with all the technology and he was still able to come up with this great movie, I think you have to give him this one.
Best Television Series Comedy - Glee: I completley agree. For this show to be this great its first season, and be so different, it would have been a shame to see it not win. I love The Office but it just didn't beat Glee this year. SO happy 30 Rock didn't win. It wins too much.
Best Motion Picture Comedy - The Hangover: I agree. Anyone would agree. If you don't, chances are you didn't see this movie.
Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama - Sandra Bullock/Blind Side: Yes. Agreed. She was good enough in this movie to beat out the other nominees.
Best Actor in a Motion Picture Comedy - R Downey Jr./Sherlock Holmes: I actually haven't seen it yet, and I kind of wanted to see Joseph Gordon Levitt win this one.
Best Motion Picture Drama - Avatar: This is very much a disapointment to me. Not a surprise at all, but very much a disapointment. I thought Inglorius Basterds was ten times better, and even Precious Im sure was better than Avatar. I think its the special effects that won them that one, is that fair? Anyway I give huge props to James Cameron for speaking in Na'vi for part of his acceptance speech. That was cool.

24 IS BACK!

AND I AM PUMPED! This show is beyond good. It's genius. The people behind this show have gotten this genre down. They know how to send chills down your spine, they know how to leave your jaw on the floor, they now how to get you to swear at your TV set. Yes, while watching the 4 hours of 24, I swore several times. In only the first two episodes I am emotionally drawn in to the characters. Although that is also due to 7 previous seasons, it's still a big deal. For fans of drama shows, you will still love this show. There are plenty of moments I caught myself yelling at Jack, not to go through some door, or not to listen to some person. Action junkies will instantly fall in love with the fast paced high suspense action.

About a year ago I had a chance to speak with Howard Gordon, one of the Executive Producers and Writers on the show, and he said that this will most likeley be the last season, so this is your last chance to watch a 24 season live. So get to it! Get as caught up as you can, and watch this show. You will not be let down.

Up In The Air

This movie is very adult. Not how you're thinking, there were no overly explicit scenes or horrible language, it was really wasn't bad in that way at all. It was adult in the topics that it dealt with. Unemployment, marriage, just life in general, things that will probably only interest you if you are above a certain age. That being said, it was a fantastic movie. It was smart, it wasn't too sing songy, not everything worked out as planned, but it wasn't depressing. Basically, Ryan Bingham, (played really well by George Clooney) has a tough job. He travels the country, firing people of various companies, so the boss doesn't have to. This being a high travel job, he lives in the air. Not literally, but he is constantly traveling, always at an airport, in an airplane, or in a hotel. And he is constantly racking up miles, trying to reach a certain milestone.

It was funny but definitely was a serious movie. And it was definitely a good movie, but you wouldn't be doing any sort of horrible injustice by waiting for this movie to come to On Demand or DVD. If you think this is your kind of movie, and it deals with stuff that pertains to your "age" than for sure check this movie out. Otherwise, I suggest waiting a little while. Oh and just something to help you make your decision, Jason Reitman, the director also directed (and wrote) Juno and Thank You For Smoking. This movie has a similar feel, but not really too much in common with the other two besides that. I liked Up in the Air more than Thank you for smoking, but I liked Juno far more. I guess it just has to do with the whole "age" thing.

Modern Family on ABC

I recently began watching a relatively new show called "Modern Family" and it's hilarious. Fans of The Office will immediately fall in love with the new take on the "mockumentary" genre, with the confession shots and actors looking directly at the camera. The jokes are laugh out loud funny and the characters are all quirky and entertaining. The whole show is about these three families that are all related to each other through strange re-marriages. You kind of have to watch it to better understand what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, this show premiered a while back, around November, so I am just watching them online. You can find the first two at www.abc.com and the episodes five to the most recent one on Hulu. But be quick, because they expire. So go watch it. now.

What is "Inception"?

Coming July 16, 2010, is Inception, a Sci Fi-Action-Thriller, written produced and directed by the Dark Knight's very own, Christopher Nolan. The full plot of the movie has been pretty mysterious, but tagline is: "The Crime Scene is the Victims Mind."

I am so excited for this movie, it's ridicoulous. It is one of the reasons Im so eager for summer to come along. Probably my all time favorite actor is the lead, none other than Leonardo DiCaprio. One of the supporting Actors is Joseph Gordon-Levitt, one of my favorite up and coming actors, along with Ellen Page, who I am legitimately in love with. It will be really cool to see these actors in an action movie. Chris Nolan really hit it big with the Dark Knight, its two years later and his movie is still one of the most talked about, referenced, and loved movies in a long time. Hopefully he will meet his high se standards with Inception.The crazy thing is the trailer. It's amazing. You could probably sell just the trailer, because it is quite possibly one of the most intense, intruiging, overall amazing trailers i've ever seen. TRAILER

The Blind Side...Blind Sided Me?

Yea, it did. I went into this thinking I knew exactly what it was going to be. One of those movies where something great happens tothem, then they screw it up, its tragic, but they salvage it in time. Fine, so that is the movie, but they go about it in a way thats not so Disney-esque, and I give them props for that. It really entertained me, I laughed out loud at times, I felt bad for the characters, in essence, I cared. I felt connected, which is what movies want. Thats what the audience wants as well. And they did that, which is why the movie was so succesful. The only thing I didn't really like about it was, sort of, the way Michael acted.

Let me back up. In case you don't know, Michael is poor, he is taken in by a rich family, and he is an amazing Offensive Tackle. So as I was saying, I thought the way he acted was to cliche and unnatural. Dont get me wrong, the act-ING, was great, just the way the character in the movie was written to ACT, I didn't like. Your wondering what I'm talking about. Basically, he would mope, not say thank you, never smile, I guess just act disrespectful, at least when first introduced to the family. In real life, im sure he was much more thankful, and respectful, or at least gracious in the way that he accepted their TLC. I mean no one would be like that, even if sersiously traumatized.

Oh and just some fun facts about the reality of this movie (It's a true story, Michael Oher actually is an OT for the Baltimore Ravens) Apparently the real Michael didn't like his being portrayed as a bad football player. He also didn't like being portrayed as stupid. But hey, it was for the movies sake.

So yes, in the end, this movie took me by surprise. It "Blind Sided" me. Verdict: See it in theaters if you want, dont make any sort of effort to get to see it on the big screen though. It would be fine on DVD, with the fam or some friends, unless its really important to you that you are able to chat about it with people now.

Spiderman 4 - CANCELLED

You may not have known, (but could probably tell from the ending of the last movie) that there were plans for a Spiderman 4 to be coming out around Summer of 2011. Well those plans are no longer plans. They are, ex-plans? Anyway, what happened is Sam Raimi, the director of the first three Spiderman films ( and Drag Me To Hell if it means anything ) decided that in order to meet the 2011 deadline, the movies "creative integrity" would be sacrificed. Basically he didn't think he would be able to make a quality movie in that short of a time. Toby Maguire heard the news, and also jumped ship, followed by the entire Spiderman cast. Apparently, the fued between Raimi and and Sony had been going on for a while, so this has not come out of nowhere. Plus there was some disagreement between Raimi and the studio about whether The Vulture was the best pick for the main villian. (John Malkovich was going to portray The Vulture, personally I think that would have been fantastic).

But if you are a Spiderman fan, don't give up hope, it has been decided that Spiderman Franchise will be "Rebooted". Basically, a new script is being written, a new cast, and a new director. The films will be completley different, and of course, there has been plenty of speculation about possible Spidermen, and possible directors. Spidermen: Patrick Fugit, Michael Angarano, Zac Efron, Daniel Radcliffe, Michael Cera, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson. (All young actors, apparently the film will surround Peter Parker's Highschool escapades) Directors: Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer), Gary Ross, Michael Bay (Transformers), Wes Anderson, James Cameron and David Fincher.

Anyway, the whole idea of a new franchise is kind of exciting, but to be honest I'm really dissapointed. I absolutley loved the first movie, I thought Tobey Maguire was an amazing Spidey, along with James Franco and Kirsten Dunst (also amazing) and I'm really sad to see that they wont be playing the characters we know them as. Anyway, do they need to "reboot"? Is it going to be any good? We'll see. I konw it will be interesting...

Avatar (Good Movie - Or Good FX?)

Good movie. Because of the special effects. Sort of. Im torn on this review, because I loved this movie, but I'm not really sure why. Ok, the special effects were amazing. I mean they were phenomonal, when you went from human to pandora world, the transition was seamless, yet amazing. There was zero difference between the movements of the humans and the aliens, it was really incredible. And for that, I reccomend you see this movie. However, the story fell a little flat towards the end. The last, say, half hour, was just too predicatble and dragged out for me. It all blended into one big unnecesary clump of scenes. The rest of the movie was pretty good though.

One thing I noticed is that this movie takes a lot of stories from other succesful movies, and kind of mashes them togethor into one masterplot. Of course when you are in the theater, you don't realize that, so they can get away with it. Take plots like Dances with Wolves, Braveheart, even Pochahontas. Main character becomes one of the native people and helps them rise up againts the oppresive forces that the main characters introdcuced. Just Some food for thought.

Until I looked into it. Apparently there has been some uproar about Jame's Cameron stealing the plot completely from a Sci Fi book. This book is called "Call Me Joe" by Poul Anderson. In it, the main character is parapalegic, just like in Avatar. He goes to another planet and explores, just like in Avatar. He finds freedom in his new Alien body, exactly like in avatar, and finally, becomes a native and fights the power. Just like in avatar. Oh and oth characters have blue skin. So Yeah. The chiller: Poul Anderson apparently wrote another book. Called Avatar.

However, this is the internet, and to be completley honest you can't really trust everything you read, especially when it's coming from an angry mob of sci fi nerds. Plus, I love all of James Cameron's work, hes genuis, so It would be kind of hard to beleive he really did this.

Anyway, this might be one of those movies that you see only because everyone is seeing it and talking about it, but I think you should see it anyway, its basic solid movie qualities plus the amazing FX = downright good entertainment.

American Idol! Season...9?

This show has been going on, and on, and on. And it will continue for quite some time, I am sure of it. I want to be able to say that I am going to stop watching, but I would be lying. I am so sick of this show, but I can't stop. Im sick of Randy's nonsense advice: "it was a little pitchy dawg" loses meaning after the 500th time. Im sick of Simon's unnecesary rudeness. Im Sick of judges leaving the show and having it big news. Im sick of it, but I keep watching. I guess it just has lost all of it's novelty. The emotion that comes with a cancer patient making it big, or someone who everyone at hom thought was great, getting shot down. Its just so over done. I am going to make some sort of effort to try to watch this show as little as possible this season, but I know it wont last. This show is a timewaster and a lifewaster, so if you can escape the vortex while theres still hope for you, save yourself, from this show. It's too late for the rest of us.

Youth in Revolt

I have been waiting for a movie like this for a while, and I am happy it finally came. Yes, Michael Cera literally playsthe exact same character in every single one of his movies, but hes got that charachter down so well. He is the ultimate akward kid.

I absolutley loved this movie, although I went in with low expectations, they slowly rose and by the end of the movie I was more than glad that I had watched it. The catch is that this movie willdefinitley not register as "funny" but more as "stupid" with a lot of people. What Im saying is that it has a very target audience, but the people who fall into that audience, I beleive, will love this flick.

It's short, it's cute, and it's just an overall good watch. It felt a little short, and so my final verdict is, if possible, make it part one of a double header with a more serious movie to follow it up. One of my friends said that it looked very low grade, and I have to agree. I disagree, however, that this brings down the movie quality, because I thought it added something to the movie that made it more enjoyable. This movie has it's cliche moments, (at least cliche for this type of movie) but it also manages to break the cliches. And well enough that if you think you should see it, in your gut, then I strongly suggest you see this movie.

3:10 to Yuma - The Ultimate Western

This movie was fantastic, definitley see this movie, wether you rent it or buy it or watch it on demand, its something you should see. Western movies are sort of withering away, because the genre was so over juiced no one could make a western with out falling into a cliche. Somehow, this movie completley defies all cliches.

Ben Wade is the most wanted, sharp shooting, caravan stealing, villian of this movie, played wonderfully by Russel Crowe. The main character, Dan Evans, (played by Christian Bale) is offered a reward for escorting Ben Wade safely to the train, so he can be taken to jail. Meanwhile, Ben Wade's team of criminals is following close behind. This movie is so great I can't even begin to explain. One of my favorite actors makes an appearence, Luke Wilson, which also ups the movie in my books.

This movie is great, you are at all times interested, all I can say is that I wish I had seen it in theaters. The acting is incredible, the whole western feeling is so cool. Watch it. For sure.

Invictus: Nelson Mandela and Rugby Team Up

Writing a review for this movie is hard, because parts of it were great, but other parts weren't so much. The story was really good, the acting phenomenal. The story did a good job of balancing drama, action, suspense, and comedy to keep the viewer interested throughout most of the film. MOST, of the film. This is where the movie lags, there are too many spots where I was bored out of my mind, not just because nothing interesting was happening, but also because the dialogue felt repetitive, like the same thing was happening over and over again. The story just wasn't progressing. When the story WAS moving on, the dialogue felt fresh and natural, but at other times this just wasn't the case. I do think this was a good movie, but unless you've seen everything in theaters, or have no interest in seeing what is out, I suggest waiting for DVD.

Do make some effort to see this movie, because although it may not be worthy of going to the theater to see it, its a great watch, and a great commentary on a real world problem. (The racial segregation/tension in South Africa). So see it, just wait a little while.

A New year For "You Can't Look Away"

This is my first post of 2010, so I will be talking a little about what the new year will bring to this blog. One thing I am going to try to do is, well, blog more, sort of as a resolution. Wether or not I have recently seen a movie, or show, or something like that.

The second this is more important. I've decided to not just write posts about movies in theaters, but also movies that are out of theaters. And not necessarily recent movies, I may be reviewing and talking about movies from 30 years ago, we'll just have to wait and see. Basically, if I see a movie that I like, or hate, or interests me for some reason, I will try to write about it here. However, I watch a lot of movies, so some will get by unreviewed. In the long term I ope to get some sort of search feature, which will create a library of "You Cant Look Away" reviews, so if you cant decide wether the movie thats on is any good, you can check my blog to see if its been reviewed, and see what i thought about it.

That's it for now, lets hope 2010 brings some good movies to theaters, and some good things to this blog. Oh and good things to the economy and world peace and everything like that. So yeah. Happy New Year.

The Fantastic Mr.Fox - Fantastic or Not?

YES. This movie was beyond fantastic. It was a very nice break from some of the crap movies Hollywood has been pumping out, but even if this movie had been amidst a bunch of classics, I would see it the same way. Fantastic.

The stop motion was really cool, it was choppy and rough, but in a way that only made the movie more enjoyable. Unlike the computer generated movies that are always in theatres, this movie brings you really close to the creators of the movie, because each shot was individually hand crafted. The story is written in a way that you really care about each individual character, which is hard to do when it's not live action. Speaking of the characters, each one has a deep personality, you never know what they are going to do. This movie is of course safe for kids, as it's based on a childrens book (a really good one, I read it a while ago) but adults shouldn't hold back, anyone can enjoy this movie.

Everyone in the theatre is able to relate to one of the characters. Even the music is astonishing, each character has there own type of music, like Mr.Fox, when he is adventuring you hear a little banjo triad. The voice acting is really good, George Clooney and Meryl Streep are amazing. I love all Wes Anderson movies (The Life Aquatic, The Royal Tenenbaums), they all have a similar edgy feel, and you could definitley feel that in this movie. Im sitting here trying to think of something that I didn't like about the movie, and to be completley honest, there isn't anything. This is going to be a classic, im almost sure of it. So do yourself a favor, and go see this movie.

2012 (Part 2 of my Double Header)

Wow. Why did I see this movie. Im not sure, I guess I thought too myself: "There must be a reason this is the #1 grossing film in the box office for the month". Guess what. There is no reason. This movie, is absolutley, horrible. Please do yourself a favor, and do not go anywhere near this movie. Here are some things that would have been a better well spent 2 hours and thirty-eight minutes: looking at the floor, counting to ten thousand, or doing anyhting you can possibly think of, that doesn't consist of watching 2012.

The transition between CG effects and real shots was horrible, the acting was crap for the most part, the plot was horrible, the overall execution of the movie was just really, really bad. Really. The theatre was laughing half the time, I mean it was just ridicoulous. At least Woody Harrelson was funny. If you could watch just the parts with him in it, you might like it. They should make that an option, otherwise dont waste your money. 2012 = An aweful end to my pre thanksgiving movie marathon.

Ninja Assassin (Part 1 of my Double Header)

Reviewing this movie is complicated, because I can't really say it was "better than I thought it would be" because I had no idea what movie I was watching until it started. When I first started watching, I was pretty sure I wanted to leave; the gore was beyond over the top. As is, semi-decapitation, forceful amputation etc. So I wasn't excited. As the movie progressed however, I settled in, the gore become somewhat reasonable, and I actually began to enjoy this movie, far more than I expected to. I love ninjas, I don’t know why. Some consider my absurd obsession with ninjas a birth defect. That’s a lie, but still you get my point, what I'm trying to say is that it would be hard for me to give a ninja movie too bad of a review, but biases aside, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

The action was cool and intense, although unbelievable. The plot actually did not fail to entertain me, and the surprises were good enough to keep me from leaving as well. The acting could have been worse, but it wasn't too good either. The blood was ridiculously fake, which subtracted from the movie substantially. Not just how it looked, but if someone got a paper cut, blood would shoot from it like a hose. The special effects brought it together to be a pretty solid movie. The main point for me is that it was good, but it’s not a "Serious" movie. Like The Departed or Predator or The Terminator, it’s one of those movies that will surely die out after a year on DVD. Ninja Assassin = A good first half of my pre thanksgiving movie night.

Parks and Recreation

Parks and Rec is a great watch, but not exactly top notch. Yea, i rhyme somtimes. But really, it is a good show. It is part two of TTT (Terrific TV Thursday. I renamed it until someone can do better.) It follows Part one of TTT which is Community. Parks and Rec is funny, the story is good, but i feel like its lacking something. While writing this post, I realized that I like community better, which suprises me, but is definitley true. And I dont get it, Amy Poehler is my all time favorite female comedian, Aziz Ansari is also hilarious and Rashida Jones is really good as well. So why don't I love this show. It's just dull sometimes I guess. You don't REALLY need to watch all the ones before it, just three or four to be caught up. Unless you have to be caught up all the way, which is me. I only hope that they can step it up, because a cancellation is totally possible, I am the only person that I know that watches it EVERY week. But I have to. Otherwise I would be cheating TTT.

The Box - C+?

I just saw this movie, and have decided to give it a C+. Now a first you might think, wow he's being harsh, or man its really that bad. But take a look at some of the other reviews and ratings, it got much worse. What I have heard is that the general public hated the ending. I guess they thought it was too predictable, but to be honest I haven't seen a not predictable movie in a while. The acting was mediocre, Cameron Diaz was pretty bad, but I really enjoyed James Marsden's performance as the dad (He's Prince Edward in Enchanted.) So I thought the plot of this movie was really cool.

It is based on a book called "Button, Button" by Richard Matheson. There have been a bunch of short films based of this idea or situation of moral dilemma in which you have to decide whether or not to push a button. If you do, you get a million dollars, but a random person you don't know dies. One big thing I noticed was that, it really didn't need to be made into a horror film. It really wasn't scary at all, the only thing that made it "Horror" were the suspenseful shots and music. I guess you could say that about any horror film, but what 'm trying to say is that a lot of things were unnecessary, even laughable. For real, me and others were just laughing at different scenes, which you have to admit kind of ruins the experience. There were also so many of those scenes that just absolutely didn't need to be in the movie, and it feels like they were just thrown in there. Maybe to make it longer or to please special effects fans. Im not really sure.

But the plot was really cool, plenty of "Ohhhhhh" moments and and a really creepy vibe the made it for me. Of course there were the ridiculously predictable and just plain stupid parts as well. Im going to finish off this post with a little bit of truth: I was thinking about the "Shutter island" trailer the whole time. I am pumped. For that movie. End of story.

SUPER TV THURSDAY

I am now calling Thursday: "Super TV Thursday"

Why? Because thats when NBC airs its top tier shows, and and America gets to see how the Survivors on the Samoan Islands are doing. Its the night when your television unleashes the best of the best, its "Super TV Thursday".

Ok So I might be over doing at a little bit, but seriously: Community, Parks and Rec, The Office, 30 Rock. And During that stretch of TV goodness is FlashForward and Survivor, and later is MTV's night of cool shows. Its just a good night for TV overall. Its the best night for TV's to put their best shows too because Thursday is like fridays little brother. Its not quite friday, but it has the same feel, all day you hear people saying "man it feels like a friday doesn't it" Except because there is still one more day in the week, people cant go out. They stay in. And guess what they do. Yep. They watch TV. I know this post doesnt make too much sense because I have only talked about half of the shows on Super TV Thursday, but I promise that will change.

Oh and one final note, Im not sure if Super TV Thursday is the best name for this day of awesomeness, but its the best thing that I can think of. Other possibilities include: Epic TV Thursday, Awesome TV Thursday, Crazy TV Thursday, Basically any cool/inspiring/positive word TV Thursday will do. Something more creative would be better, and Im totally open to suggestions. But for now, its Super TV Thursday, or STVT. Anyway, I've gone completely off track with this post, but soon i will be posting about some of the shows I mentioned in this post. And get pumped for the next "SUPER TV THURSDAY"!!!

Huluriffic

Hulu is an amazing invention for an avid TV watcher like myself, and hopefully to everyone else. If you don't know what Hulu is, its a website that provides episodes of popular, (and not so popular) TV shows after they air. For example, say Im at a Jay-Z concert that I just couldn't pass up, and I'm already DVR'ing Survivor and The Office, what about poor old [INSERT FAVORITE SHOW]? HULU! Just wait a day, (Sometimes Two) and go on Hulu and you can watch your show, with far less commercials than regular TV. Keep in mind, Not all shows are on Hulu, but many are. Most NBC, Fox, USA shows, plus a lot of MTV, Comedy Central and more. Its not as nice as watching in the comfort of your living room on a real TV, but for me its good enough. It allows for a quick high quality viewing experience. Sometimes it can be choppy, but not often. You have the choice to watch many of the shows in higher quality,and sometimes you can "Dim the Lights" which darkens the screen outside of what you are watching, like in the movies when the lights go down. There are also short clips if you want to watch your favorite scene from a certain episode and even some extra behind the scenes content, which really tops of a great website. Sometimes I just go there and discover a new show. So if you forget about a show, or your sister removes your recording of 30 Rock so she can record an interview with Kate Goselin, check Hulu out. And Yes. The Kate Goselin thing happened.

GLEEEEEEEEEE

I. Love. Glee. I have been getting so much crap for liking this show, and I could not care less. Because the show is amazing. There is something in it for everyone. For the people that only watch One Tree Hill, The OC, Gossip Girl and Greek, you have the drama, relationshipy side, which is a huge part of the show. For the Broadway fanatic, (I know several, so don't say they don't exist) another huge side of the show is the amazing singing, dancing and musical numbers that are sprinkled amongst the episode(not randomly, they tie into the story of course). The comedy fan will enjoy the hilarity that ensues no matter where the hilarity is occurring. All the characters are diverse, and the fact that none of the students are well know actors makes the show more believable. For some reason, the show has been on some sort of hiatus. I'm not sure if its some sort of marketing strategy to build suspense for the finale, or if they messed, which is really unlikely. Anyway, use the time to cath up on Hulu, its on Wednesdays at nine.

Welcome to Greendale Community College!

Community is so great. Im not gonna lie, at first I really didn't like it. It felt like they were trying too hard with the joke delivery, while the actual jokes themselves were stale. But the show fell into its place, and really love it now. The characters are so great: Abed's hilarious antics sprinkled throughout the episode keep it from becoming boring. The interactions between the various characters are so amusing, and new characters are always being added to keep it fresh.

Another cool thing about Community is that, kind of like how the beginning of every office episode has a funny little sketch, Community has one at the end of every episode. Unfortunately, when I DVR it, the funny ending gets cut off. Even with all the great comedy, the drama is able to be taken seriously, instead of the drama in most comedies which is usually corny. This show was good enough to go from After, the office, to before. SO WATCH IT! (at 8/7c on NBC)

The Amazing Race

The Amazing Race is a reality show that consists of eleven teams of two, racing around the world. Each team has some sort of relationship, like: "Brothers" or "Father and Son" or "Dating on and Off", and so on. The teams goal is to be the first to arrive at various checkpoints, by foot, taxi, boat, plane, or however they can. The first team wins some sort of prize. The last team is either eliminated or has some disadvantage in a later round, like having to start an hour later or something. I recently watched the 2 hour premier and absolutley loved it. The teams are diverse, and it is so much fun to watch them interact, while also trying to be the first to the finish line. The challenges are creative, and intense. Anyways, check out this Emmy Award winning show on Hulu or at 8/7c on CBS.

ZOMBIELAND

Zombieland definitley quenched my thirst for a good zombie movie. It was great. Jessie Eisenberg is so funny, always the akward nerd that gets the girl. but he pulls it off every time. Woody harrelsons antics were also hilarious to watch. There was even a surprising celebrity cameo, that brought the movie kind of a refreshing feeling. And of coures, the zombie gore was over the top, in a good way though. This movie had the perfect balance of hilarious comedy, intense action, and airborn blood and guts. If you have the chance, definitely go out and see this movie. Leave a comment telling what you think.

Emmy Awards! (Kinda Late)

So obviously this is a blog about movies, so it would be stupid to not do a post on the Emmy's. Unfortunately, I completely forgot. So here it is. The Emmy's were great this year. Neil Patrick Harris from "How I Met Your Mother" (Which I love) was a great host. He was funny without being stupid and over the top.

There were a lot of upsets, or at least from my point of view. I mean Jon Cryer from "Two and a Half Men" instead of Dwight! Kristen Chenoweth in pushing daisies instead of Amy Poehler! What is this!? Bizzaro Hollywood? The Office didn't even get a nomination for Writing: of the 5, 30 Rock got 4 and Flight of the Conchords got 1. Honestly Flight of the Conchords is a really funny show, and deserved the nomination. But did the various writers of 30 Rock Really need 4 different nominations. 30 Rock also won outstanding comedy series. We get Academy, you like 30 Rock. Damn.

One thing about the Emmy's that kind of annoyed me was the Miniseries Category. It took such a long time to wait for all the people to come up, make their speeches, and honestly nobody had any idea what these shows were. I think it was a waste of time, it is good that they are getting recognition though.

Anyway, it was a great night, with plenty of musical numbers and Kanye West jokes. Oh and if you watched it leave a comment about what you thought.

Inglorius Basterds - Best Movie This Summer?

This movie, is easily one of my favorite movies of all time. And I saw it yesterday. It was phenomenal, the violence might have been over the top, but compared to other Quentin Tarentino movies, it wasn't actually that bad. You can tell a movie is good if you are thinking about it in the car ride home. Im still thinking about it now. The job of a movie is to entertain you, and extract emotions from you: laughter, sadness, horror. It did all of these things, and well. Just the idea of a group of Jewish guys slaughtering Nazi's is cool by itself, but when you add in the dramatic shots and music, with outstanding acting, you get a great movie. If I give actual examples of parts I liked, I might spoil the movie, so i'll hold back. It was very long, but the use of splitting the movie up into chapters made it seem shorter. I really loved this movie, and if you haven't seen it, stop reading this, and go see it. Right now. GO.

Psych!

Is Awesome. Psych is Awesome. You might of heard of it, maybe not, but I really like it. If you haven't heard of it, ill give an ultra brief summary. Two guys, partners and buddies, help the cops solve crimes, one is kind of psychic, light hearted tone. USA at 10/9c and it reallly is great. The style is very similar to other USA shows, (shots, color, acting, directing, music) but that is no deterrent. I love the snappy one liners even if they are considered cheesy by some. The two main characters are played fantastically, and its just a great way to end the week. Definitly check it out if you have time.

Survivor Samoa: Season Number 22?

So I just watched the Survivor Samoa premiere and I dont really have much to say. Only because its happened 21 times before this, so all of the seasons are starting to blend into one in my mind. I love survivor, but really, besides where they are (and honestly the surroundings always look exactly the same) whats changed? Theres the one scheming caniving guy, that stabs everyone in the back. Theres the law student. The doctor. The old guy. The old woman. The southern one. The heart-throb and the three ditsy girls that never make it past round 6 that follow the heart-throb around. And mark my word, this never changes. But I still watch, because... im addicted? Not really sure, but I do know that jeff Probst better shake things up this season. I mean isn't he getting bored? I guess you cant really get bored when you have enough money to buy an Island. Any way, watch it online, but i dont really think its worth watching on TV. Only reason to: Rumors say this MAY be the last season. Who knows? Jeff Probst. But still.

Scranton Welcomes Us Back

The Office premiere! I was so excited to watch this that I completely forgot to DVR survior, let alone watch it. This is probably my favorite show aside from 24, so when I say excited i really mean excited. So I sat down to watch the show, and I instantly started laughing. Im assuming you watch the office, or at least have seen one episode, if you haven't im not really sure what to say to you. But anyway, the little snippet at the beggining of each episode, that only has to do with the plot 50 % of the time, was hilarious this episode. SO funny! The episode was not as good. It was probably an 8 of 10, which is really good for normal standards, but since the office has set such a high bar for itself, an 8 is not great. There were definitly some laugh outloud moments, but it wasn't "Casino Night" funny, or "Beach Games" funny. It was good, just not great, if you missed it definitly check it out online. I hope this season takes it up a notch. I gotta go watch Survivor.

Serena Williams Flips out at Line Judge

During one of the Us Open games, Serena Williams second serve was called a Foot Fault by one of the lineman. This put the game at match point, which apparently prompted Serena to lash out at the judge. You couldn't really make out what she was saying, but it had something to do with shoving the ball somewhere, and i'll leave it at that. Anyway, she was disqualified, leaving Kim Clijster the victor, making it impossible for Serena to keep her title. Im not saying I think this, but maybe she did this so that she could have an excuse for losing that didnt include skill, because keep in mind it was Match point against her. Thats no way to represent the Williams name, come on now. Heres the VIDEO

I just watched the clip of Kanye West doing one of the most dbaggish things one could do. If you haven't heard, he went on stage during Taylor Swifts acceptance speech, stole the microphone, and said: "Yo Talyor, Im really happy fo you, ima let you finish...But Beyonce had one of the best videos of ALL TIME!...one of the best videos of all time" He then shrugged and walked off stage like the boos coming from the crowd didn't affect him. Really Kanye? Was it neccesary? At all? I mean, they had a shot of Beyonces reaction, even she looked shocked at the douchiness of this move. We all know who you, are, you dont have to pull any stunts. But really? I mean i'm still going to listen to your music because...its really good, but...really? Wow.

District 9 - How was it?

A let down. Definitely a let down. It wasn't horrible, but I was looking forward to a totally awesome movie. This was not totally awesome, in fact I'm not even sure id give it an awesome to begin with. Sure, the action was cool, and the whole idea of aliens living in slums and everything was cool. But i really wasn't too crazy about the plot. Something about it felt like halfway through the movie the the the writer(s) just stopped trying. There were also some stereotypes that ticked me off, but I wont talk about them. I was really pumped up for this movie, so anything other than amazing was going to disappoint me. HOWEVER, I saw this movie with a friend, and he loved it, he said it was the best movie he has seen this summer, and I have heard many other people say the same thing, so If you were thinking of seeing this movie, don't let what Im saying keep you from it. I guess it just wasn't my thing. Maybe District 10 will be better?

Back From Summer - Fall TV!

I haven't posted anything in a while, mainly because there isn't much on TV over the Summer, but I also have been away, but now that the Fall TV schedule is starting up, I will be posting more. Fall is great for TV, it is the start of a lot of new shows, making their premiers, Glee, or Community, for example. Then there are the returning favorites, like House, Heroes, and 90210. I personally am excited for the return of The Office on September 17, but really, i'm just excited for the return of TV in general. Oh TV, I missed you so.

Royal Pains, Soo Good.

Recently Ive been watching this new show, Royal Pains. It is on Thursdays at 10 on USA, and it is phenomenal. It is really funny and clever, and especially now, with nothing good on, it's great to have something good like this to look forward to. The basic premise is that Hank loses his job at the hospital and goes to work as a doctor in the Hampton's. That is an extremely abridged summary, but definitely watch it if you can. Honestly, with nothing else on you don't really have an excuse.

Summer Movies, Cant Wait

Just from previews at the movies, and commercials on TV, I am very excited for the movies this summer. Lets see, I guess I'll list them and give a quick summary:

Land of the Lost - This movie has had so much hype, hopefully it lives up to its expectations. I think it will because it looks hilarious, and has Will Ferrell in it, so it has to be amazing. I also am looking forward to seeing how Danny McBride does, because he was so funny in Pineapple express. Also just as a fun fact, in case you didn't know, the movie is a parody of a 70's TV show in which they travel back in time and space, and come in contact with dinosaurs and aliens. It is a horrible show, but it will be cool to watch some episodes and then see the movie. (they play on the Sci Fi channel sometimes)

Year One - I Think Michael Cera is hilarious, and so is Jack Black, it will be great to see the two partner up in this comedy/journey through time. It is also funny that both actors are typecast as the same character in every movie. Cera is the akward teenager, and black is the bumbling idiot. As seen in the trailers, there will be some other appearences of some favorite actors like Paul Rudd and David Cross (Playing Cain and Abel). And, if this movie is anything like any of the other Judd Apatow movies (Anchorman, The 40 Year-Old Virgin, Step Brothers, Talladega Nights, Knocked Up, Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) it will be hilarious.

Funny People - The basic premise of this Sandler/Seth Rogen/Judd Apatow film is that George (Adam Sandler) Is a big stand up comic, but learns he has one year to live. He meets a comic who is struggling to find his stage persona, so he hires him/becomes his friend. I think this movie has great potential because of the all-star cast, i just hope its not as cheesy as it sounds.

The Hangover - I Love the Office, so I always get excited when I see someone from the office cast in a big movie. This time its Ed Helms, who plays Andy in the office. I've been waiting for this movie for a long time, so its exciting to actually see legit trailers and previews for it. Basically a couple guys go to Vegas for a bachelor party, and wake up the next morning with no memory of the previous night. Well it looks great, and I cant wait, its definitely a must see for me.

Bruno - The outrageous comedy ace Sacha Baron Cohen is back with a new barbarous character, not Khazakstani, but this time Austrian. We all know Borat, and how hilarious he was, so lets just hope Bruno can meet those standards. Bruno is a flamboyant Austrian model, with newly adopted african baby. Honestly, if you've seen, or even heard of Borat, I think you can use your imagination to figure out what this movie will be like. I know I'm looking forward to it.

Harry Potter - I love the Harry Potter series, books and movies. But I hated the last one. I thought it was absolutely horrible, and I seriously hope this movie doesn't suffer the same fate. I loved the first four, so maybe this one will be like them. I overheard some people saying that this one is going to be more lighthearted, which I don't really get because the book wasn't at all, but we'll see. I guess it actually does make sense in the way that a lot of this one is about the school drama and relationships. Its kind of an awkward magical love pentagon. Anyway, based on the trailer I think its gonna be good.

Transformers 2 - The first transformers was awesome, and this one looks just as great. Shia LaBeouf is terrific, and so is Megan Fox. The actual robots looked amazing in the first movie, they can only get better right? Anyway I think it looks like its gonna be intense. Transformers, robots in disguise. Excited now? You should be.

Jon Plus 4 & Kate Plus 4

If you haven't heard of Jon and Kate plus 8, it is a TLC show that follows the lives of a Family of 8. Twins + Sextuplets make the parents lives hard, but they make it out alive every episode. Until now. Well they're still alive, but you know what I mean. Jon and Kate are heading towards divorce, at least thats what it looks like. The show originally sprouted from a discovery health special called "Twins and Sextuplets," the purpose for Jon and Kate was to fund the extremely expensive lifestyle that comes with having 8 kids. It was so popular, that it quickly grew into a TLC show. Everywhere you go, tabloid magazines are showing the couple, Making comments about the supposedly attention loving Kate like: "From 'Mom' to Monster" , "Inside Jon's Prison" Or even "Kids beg : daddy don't go!"

It has been said that Kate Gosselin is the Drama Queen, who is loving the attention and fans, and Jon Gosselin has taken it a much different way. According to Kate, this is what is ripping them apart. I think its that they have 8 kids. But that's just me. However, it is true that Kate is a bit of a bitch when it comes to being a wife. She is constantly yelling and bossing Jon around (On national TV) and he just puts up with it. I think that the whole "Is Jon cheating on Kate with a Teacher" Is just Jon's way of escaping from his Wife's Antics, I don't blame. Although he did sort of set himself up for accusations like that, sneaking around with that girl. And then there is the rumor that Kate is sleeping with the bodyguard. Maybe, maybe not, if anyone is gonna be unfaithful its gonna be her, I think.

But in the end, it doesn't really matter, its just sad that the kids have to put up with all of it. The premiere was so sad when one of the little girls was with Jon, and said "Daddy I don't want you to leave anymore" I guess we'll see what happens next. Mondays at 9/8 c. You should watch.

Alabama Farmer "JT" Wins Survivor Tocantins

James Thomas Jr., became a millionaire May 17, 2009. He became the first contestant in the history of survivor to not receive one single tribal council vote, and he got all seven jury votes, so vote wise, he played a perfect game. My DVR did not record the end, so i had to go to Hulu to find out who won the next day, but I was not surprised. JT and Stephen both played very good games, but JT out played Stephen by far, socially and physically. I also think his noble choice of taking the harder route and choosing Stephen to come with him helped him with the jury. He even played so well, he won an additional $100,000 for being voted the player of the game by viewers. Now all I have to do is wait for next season, which is supposed to be "Survivor Samoa". I think if I was Mark Burnett, I would make some twist, like make it somewhere cold, or just something they haven't done yet. But thats just what I think.

Terminator: Salvation

Meh. That's probably the best way to describe that movie. (meh is a word by the way: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=meh) So anyway, the movie was mediocre. I love TV, and I don't go to the movies a lot, so when I do, I like to be entertained. This one just didn't do it for me. Yes, it was action packed, which I liked, but I thought the plot was a little weak. I also felt like the usage of green screen and CGI effects were very obvious in the earlier scenes. There were some homages to the previous movies that I liked, and all the different machine variants brought a very intense feel. But other than that, it wasn't great. Not bad, just not good. Another thing was that the Schwarzenegger cameo felt extremely forced and out of place. They could have worked it into the story much better, instead of just shoving him into a random scene like there was no where else for him to go. It wasn't even actually him, it was some sort of special effects magic trick. Christian Bale was good, and the rest of the acting wasn't bad. Any way, scale of 1 to 10? 6.5, 7ish tops. See it if you want, but unless you are a big terminator fan, OR, have absolutely nothing better to do, I don't recommend it. You might as well just stay home and watch TV.

Kris Allen Is Crowned American Idol Winner

I am not much of an American Idol fan, but the show has a way of working its way into your life, especially since it started receiving more votes than actual presidential elections, so I felt obligated to talk about this event. I must say that I did really enjoy the outcome of this season of American idol. I didn't really favor either Adam or Kris, I just tend to root for the underdog, and I'm glad to see that the this time, the underdog won. I also heard that Adam Lambert, before his appearance on American Idol, was the understudy for a large part on the very popular Broadway show, Wicked. I think a big part of American Idol is viewers seeing Average Joe's become Stars of the stage. When a contestant enters the show already half way there, at least for me, it kills a lot of the interest. However, Kris had already self-released an album before coming on the show, so I guess its not fair for me to say that about Adam. Anyway, Kris Allen, 23 from Conway Arkansas, Seems nice, great singer, hope he goes far unlike many of the past American Idols whose careers withered away after a couple of months.

I love TV, but so does almost everyone else in the world. Why wouldn't you? There are SOME people, but they just haven't yet discovered the beauty of a good TV watching session. Get home, pour yourself a drink, sit down, and 'click'. My current favorite shows are The Office, 24, Survivor, Lost, and House, but I will really watch whatever is on. However, I am sad, because this is the worst time of the year for an avid TV watcher like myself. All the major shows winding down, and the majority of the finales have aired. So now I must find something to watch, or else I will get sucked into watching those horrible garbage reality series like last summer. Except for wipeout, which is pretty hilarious.
